What is the difference of our data logger?

Both data logger uses our standard ASCII NMEA-0183 data protocol for data storage, real-time data transmission or configuration and control commands. Both data logger consist of industrial grade components for harsh environmental conditions or extended operating live. Only industrial solid-state technology such as CompactFlash (CF) or micro-SecureDisk (µSD) is used for storage.

SmartDI® data logger

The SmartDI® data logger is used for complex measurements or control applications, with external sensors or actors such as valves or pumps. To reduce the power consumption the SmartDI® can be powered off and on from an external device, e.g. a special MicroDI® power-manager module. Standby modes are not available.

Special industrial data acquisition boards with 24 Bit resolution and fully galvanic isolation are connected with an internal and expandable RS-485 bus. Comparable IO modules are used to provide digital or relay outputs.

Subsea data loggers with 4 serial ports or up to 6 connectors for external sensors are integrated into a Ø90mm housing. For applications with more serial ports a Ø168mm housings is used. For full-ocean-depth ratings could be fulfilled by a Ø180mm housing.

In a special configuration the data logger comes with a Li-Ion battery (SmartDI® PowerLogger™) to provide power for itself and the attached sensors.

For deck-units or for OceanPack™ systems a touch-screen could be connected to visualize real-time data and diagnostic menus. Up to 36 serial ports can be used.

The SmartDI® data loggers are used to control analyzers or complete systems. The real-time multitasking kernel can acquire data from up to 250 devices and 10000 channels in parallel. The integrated proprietary Soft-PLC takes control about time or combined value events. Nutrient analyzers, samplers and other devices can be programmed. With GPS inputs data is geo-referenced and a position control is realized e.g. for automatic cleaning sailing into the harbour.

With many interfaces, calibration formulas and control functions it is a versatile tool for control or measurement systems.

 MicroDI® data logger

The MicroDI® data logger can acquire standard analog signals in high 24 Bit resolution. In addition many versatile Digital IO-Signals are available, some for switching power or as a PWM output.

The small form factor and ultra-low-power consumption enables long-time deployments with small battery capacities.

The MicroDI® is used as a very small and ultra low-power but high-precision data logger. In a special configuration the data logger comes with a small Li-Ion battery (MicroDI® PowerLogger). It does not fall under the regulation of dangerous goods and therefore could be easily transported by air.

The power-manager module of the MicroDI® with its optional calibrated real-time clock (1 ppm, time error < 30s/year) can be used for other external devices such as the SmartDI® data logger.

When small dimensions are important pressure housings with Ø50mm are used. More external sensors could be attached when the logger comes in a Ø90mm housing.

To visualize a few data for easy diagnostic in the field a small display can be added to the logger.

 NetDI® data logger

The NetDI® data logger is used for high-speed measurements up to 10kHz or higher. For control applications special options are available. With its state-of-the-art ARM processor, large memory and a real-time kernel internet connectivity or broadcasting of videos are possible.

With its low power consumption the NetDI® can be used for high-sophisticated underwater monitoring tasks.

Pressure housings with Ø168mm are used. For full-ocean-depth ratings Ø180mm housings are used.

For deck-units a touch-screen could be connected to visualize real-time data and diagnostic menus. With many interfaces, internet connectivity and high-speed data acquisition it is a versatile tool for sophisticated or high-speed measurement systems.

The NetDI® can be produced for high reliable demands up to SIL-2.
